Casual Sex charm bag

Image
My path is admittedly eclectic...I worship the Vanir Gods, that is about all that can be said with certainty. Even though that is true, I practice alot of folk style magic that can be adapted to almost any path, in my opinion. I have been working on what I call charm bags for years. They are perhaps the most effective spell work I have done outside of sexual energy work. I was recently asked by a friend to create a charm recipe for a certain purpose, namely attracting a casual sexual relationship as well as a boost of courage for the caster. Some might disagree with the ethics of such a spell, but it is my firm belief that as long as the intent is clear, such work is acceptable. As long as casual sex is between two consenting adults, I see it as positive for both parties involved. This particular charm was created not with the intention of bending the will of another, but rather empowering the caster to draw to themselves a willing partner as well as give them a boost of courage and co...

Walking with Ancestors

Image
Since today marks the beginning of Memorial Day weekend here in the states, I feel it is relevant to say a few words about honoring our ancestors. I feel this was a large part of the Norse culture, regardless of whether or not one worships the Aesir, Vanir, or a mixture of both. The Disir are described by most as the ancestral female spirits of our family, personal spirits, wights,or beings who are, for lack of a better descriptor, personal family deity, or near to it. There is some evidence on an archaeological level that Disir worship was quite prevalent during the Viking ages. It has been suggested that those who did not follow or worship any of the Norse Gods probably still engaged in some sort of Disir worship to protect and watch over family and kin. Freyja herself has in modern times become associated with the Disir through her title Vanadis, though admittedly there is some debate to the connection on a purely etymological basis. While I do not feel that Freyja is to be called Q...

Freyja and the Falcon

Image
I have always been fascinated by animal symbolism within myth and culture, so I decided to do some research about the falcon, an animal perhaps more closely associated with Freyja than any other. This is largely in part to her famous falcon cloak, which she uses as a magical tool to travel the worlds. The connection made me wonder what one might glean about our Goddess Freyja by examining the common myth and history of a bird present within many cultures, both ancient and modern. All birds, and the falcon especially, are connected with the idea of transcendence. They represent the link between the earth and the sky, which often becomes a metaphor for the mundane world and the spirit realm. In some cultures this also translates to viewing them as a sort of protective guardian from malevolent spirits. Probably the earliest recorded and well known association with the falcon comes to us from Egypt, in the deity of Horus, the falcon headed god. In this culture, Horus was a protective fi...

Meeting Freyja

Image
I spent the majority of my life trying to find my path. I was born into a Christian household, and until about two years ago I would have called myself a Christian, though in truth I felt lost. I was a Christian because that was the norm, what was generally accepted. That being said I was never truly a Christian in the reaches of myself. Yes, I tried to believe in God and Jesus. But the more educated I became the more falsehood I found with the dogma and principles. That part of me that was always, even as a child, so deeply connected to the earth and the wights of all things, called constantly to me. I ignored it to the detriment of my own identity. I was in constant conflict spiritually, and this reflected in every facet of my life. I had dabbled in Wicca and a bit of paganism, and had read the cards since I was twelve. But each time I got involved in these things more deeply, I would eventually become afraid of being punished by the Christian God. So I buried my desires for a magica...
